United States Approves F-18 Hornet Support For Kuwait

The United States Department of State has approved a support package worth to USD 420 million for the fleet of jet fighter Boeing F/A-18C/D Hornet.

The package comprises a range including engineering, maintenance, and other support services, according to the Agency for Defense Security Cooperation US (DSCA) said in a statement.

In it areas such as software upgrades, enhancements to General Electric F404 engine fleet, spare parts and documentation specified.

"This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that has been, politics and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East, "says the DSCA.

"Kuwait plays an important role in US efforts to promote stability in the Middle East, providing the basis, access and transit for US forces in the region." Currently, Kuwait operates 27 single-seat fighter F/A-18C Hornet. On the other hand, in April 2016, Kuwait placed an order for 28 Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 3, strengthen its aerial combat ability.
