United Airlines Converts Boeing 787 Orders

United Continental Holdings Inc (UCH) the company who owns United Airlines announces its plan to convert the order into Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner.

In initial order, UCH wants Boeing 787-8, the smallest variant of the dreamliner. Later on, the decision comes into stretched variant of original Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The consequences United Airlines will have delay time of the delivery. This Boeing 787-10 is expected to be received in 2022, longer waiting time from 2018.

Currently, United Airlines is only US carrier who owns and operates Boeing 787 Dreamliner Series.

Boeing 787-9 of United Airlines able to carry about 250 passengers divided into three class. There are 48 seats of business class or United Business First, 88 seats for economy plus and the rest 116 for economy class. Twin-aisle aircraft can give comfortable and spacious cabin interior.

Adjusting to bigger capacity but lower capital expense, United Airlines finally go to the used aircraft. Used aircraft can be cheaper but can be good bargain in other side. Recently, they bought two used Boeing 737-700s from the leasing company.

After the consolidation UCH expects to increase global capacity up to 2.5 % and domestic capacity by 1.5 percent.
